Have fun, communicate and learn!
Language learning is one of the most talked about topics today, in a great variety of contexts – from business to travel to education. Knowing more than the one language opens up doors to you and as a result, many people are taking up night classes, going on language learning trips or buying language learning cds as a result. The schools are more advanced as a result and finding innovative ways to get the best out their pupils.
It is thought by experts that the best and most useful way to dominate a language is by being capable of speaking it in social situations, and being capable of saying what you want – not just set phrases from a tourism book. Constructing your own sentences is key! Language schools have taken this advice on board and so are constructing new ways to promote language learning. In Spain, where you will find some of the best language schools, anything from poker nights, playing Spain’s juegos de casino, to tapas tours, enjoying local quality food and wine are being organised with quickly increasing frequency. These social events give language students the chance to integrate themselves local culture and interact with fellow students and locals – all whilst practising the language! This way is an inspiring way to learn, much more so than alone with language cds or reading through grammar books. Perhaps you don’t get the grammar perfect whilst speaking, there is no need to worry. Making yourself understood is the most important factor. If you know the grammar to a tee but can’t think off the top of your head to answer questions and make comments spontaneously, then what’s the use?
Communication is key – help yourselves and others to learn!
The great advantage of learning a language is thta you have more friends! It could be you have more people to play poker with, to travel with or to chat with – either way it is enlightening to communicate with other cultures and you will certainly not regret having learnt the language!
